BAL Assessment Warrandyte South
Building on large blocks in the Rural Conservation Zones in the Warrandyte area provides an opportunity to site the building on the block to maximise the defendable space which lowers the BAL construction level required as more protection is afforded to the house. The large rural holdings in Warrandyte South with their patches of remnant Box Woodlands with Eucalyptus polyanthemos (Red Box) Eucalyptus macrorhyncha (Red Stringybark) Eucalyptus dives ( Broad-leaved Peppermint ) and if you’re lucky, the occasional Red Ironbark Euclayptus sideroxylon have the opportunity with considered placement, to design a house and its surrounds that is responsive to the local bushfire risk. Placing open areas such as a sand horse area on an aspect in a way that creates defendable space for the house is one such example.
