BAL Assessment Mt Martha Mornington Peninsula

When undertaking a BAL assessment in Mt Martha I need to venture into the steep vegetated gully of Hearn Creek Reserve.

This vegetation here is a potential source of bushfire generated embers and is taken into account when conducting a BAL assessment on the Mount Martha properties that are within the 100metre assessment area as they are within a Bushfire Prone area. Whilst the majority of the land here is urban with low threat vegetation and mown lawns in gardens the creek is wild and infested with blackberries, pine trees and pittosporums. A bushfire igniting in here on a hot Summer’s day has the potential to cause a localised fire.
